Why we built Axsync local-first
Most notes apps start with a server and add speed later. We went the other way: the app starts on your device and talks to a server only when you ask it to.
Instant, always
When notes live next to the editor, there is no spinner. Opening a note, typing and searching are all local operations, and they feel like it.
Fewer things to go wrong
No account to forget, no outage that blocks your writing, no queue of changes waiting for a connection. The worst case is that you are offline, and then nothing changes.
What it costs
Local-first means we have to be honest about backups. That is why export is a first-class feature and not an afterthought. Sync will come as an opt-in layer on top, never as a requirement.
